And if, like me, you have unwisely planned your trip to involve a (relatively) lengthy stay but at a hotel far from the centre of town, and if this seemed like a good idea because you somehow, crazily, thought that the historic centre would be where you wanted to be, you have made a mistake. Savannah may well be a city you can unfold gently like the petals of a flower, but that's not going to happen on River St. in a day (or really on River St. at all).
Or maybe it's me. I've done so little wandering on this trip (unless you count highway rambling) that it could just be I'm out of the habit.
Could be. But I think cities require a bare minimum of committed rambling before they can really become your own. Sorry I planned this wrong, Savannah.
Because really. What's not to love about a city that takes this kind of care of its parking garages?

dear god, that balcony is the most amazing, magical thing i have ever seen. i think savannah and i should continue to admire eachother from a distance (yes it is true, savannah googles me often). unless i just happen to be passing through, i fear i
will be disappointed...
