Isn't it peculiar...

When the highway signage announces, "Peculiar 9 mi," you don't really have a choice.

So I pulled off the highway and headed toward Peculiar. I wasn't looking for anything in particular, though it's true that my passenger-side tail light had burnt out somewhere between Louisville and KC and I am a safety first kind of girl. I also like to fulfill random tasks in randomer places, so I was looking forward to trying to find a mechanic once I got to Oklahoma. But how much pleasanter was it to have a Peculiar mechanic replace my burnt-out light?

The desk man originally told me they wouldn't be able to get to it for an hour or so, though in the end he expedited things for me so I could hit the road running.

$22.84 is what it'll run you to replace a tail light in Peculiar. Money well spent, I'd call it.
