This is not a single-use park. In fact, it's not a park at all. It's part of the convent enclosure. There are two grassy areas out back; this one is being used for soccer practice. The one on the other side is sometimes used for mass (or something resembling a mass, though I'm not quite sure what it was), and tonight was being used as a rehearsal for (if I understood correctly and my eyes didn't deceive me) the crucifiction of Christ.
It may not hold a candle to what is done in SE Asia (or in Ixtapalapa, for that matter, where they put on a hell of a show), but size isn't everything.
