Chicken bus*

Until today, all of my inter-city travel has seen me with my nose in a book, or doing Spanish exercises, or otherwise internally occupied. But today, on the Noreste bus from Tizimín to Rio Largatos, I was snout to window, like a dog, gazing at the landscape, enthralled.

Halfway here, it occurred to me that my strange behaviour was worth examining. The landscape was, at most, marginally more interesting than the rest that I've passed through, so why the change?

Windows. The Noreste bus didn't have a/c. All the rest did.

*The NE buses are a far cry from the actual chicken busses I've ridden on elsewhere in Mexico. My guess is they are 2nd class, where are the chicken busses are 3rd, but it's only a guess.
