You can feel it as soon as you step off the plane. People here smile easier. Are easier. Things are easier. It's amazing. The contrast makes me feel even worse for Cambodia. (It just doesn't make me want to go back.)
People here smile so easy. Greet you or even make conversation for no other reason than because. Nothing to do with making a buck. God. Poor Cambodia.
And Vientiane is lovely. I have the impression it isn't supposed to be, but it's right up my alley. Human size. Mainly locals. No Vegas district. That means that the night market has nothing I would want to buy, but it also means that it's a night market for the people who live here, as opposed to the night market in SR, which is strictly for tourists or for making money off of tourists, as far as I can tell.
